Trichocereus peruvianus (Peruvian Torch Cactus) is native to the high Andes. Peruvian Torch Cactus are a very hardy and easy to grow columnar cactus, often growing a foot per year and reaching heights of over 15 feet (40 feet has been recorded).

This Top Cutting lot are about 9 1/2 to 10 inches long each, approximate circumferences 5″ to 7″ and around 2 lbs total in weight.

About the Peruvian torch cactus

Peruvian Torch Cactus will give you a visual trip less heavy than from the peyote. From all known Trichocereus cacti the Trichocereus Peruvianus is reported to contain some of the largest amount of mescaline. It is a member of the San Pedro family and grows in Peru and Ecuador. It resembles the San Pedro in form except for a lighter, bluish colour and longer thorns (7-10 cm).

Effects of Peruvian torch cactus

Peruvian torch cactus can make you feel like walking through your own fantasy world, with colourful and spiritual visions. This can give you a happy feeling. But because the amount of mescaline between different kinds of the Trichocereus genus varies, it is difficult to estimate how heavy the trip will be. The trip normally lasts for 6 to 12 hours. The Peruvian torch trip is more friendly than the Peyote trip. And also the nausea during the first hour after consuming will be less than with the Peyote.

Usage

1 small cactus should be enough for a light to moderate trip and a big one is a little more heavy.
2 small cacti or 2 big cacti for a really strong trip.

You can eat the Peruvian cactus raw, however this really does not taste nice.

You can also drink the Peruvian cactus, Remove the long thorns and throw them away. Peel the skin of the Peruvian Torch cactus (the meat has the highest concentrations of mescaline) and let the cactus dry. When the Peruvian torch cactus is dry enough, grind it to powder. The powder can be mixed with a sweet and fruity drink like orange juice.

You can also bake the Peruvian torch cactus before you consume it, Dry the cactus first, Cut it into slices and put it in a oven on 50°C for 4 or 5 hours. Then you can eat the slices. Make sure you remove the thorns because you cannot eat them!

Dosage of mescaline can differ for each cactus

Note

The choice for using small or big cacti for a good trip depends on the effect a cactus will have on each person and the amount of mescaline the cactus contains, that is why we advice always to start with half a dosage, wait a 60 to 90 minutes to see what the effect is, then if desired take half of what is left of the cactus and if necessary repeat. A Peruvian torch trip takes about 2 – 2,5 hours to peak.
